Kids can be picky eaters and that often doesn’t change just because you’re camping. In fact, it may be hard to get them to sit down for a meal when there is so much fun to be had. In order to make sure they get the nutrition their little bodies need while they are playing so hard all day, you can keep plenty of healthy snacking finger foods on hand that they can grab as they dash by the campsite during the day.
1. Corn on the Cob.
This is a favorite of many little ones and it doesn’t have to be served only at a meal. Make up about a dozen ears of corn and then cut them into three or four sections each. The small size will fit easily in a child’s hand and they can grab and go when they are hungry.
2. Pie Iron Treats.
Make some PBJ and Ham & Cheese sandwiches in your pie iron. Once they are cooled cut them into strips. The kids will get a variety and can take a few with them on the way to the pool or any other adventure they can’t wait to get to.
3. Campfire Twists.
Bring a couple tubes of pre-made cinnamon roll dough with you. You can wrap the dough around a stick and roast it into a very tasty treat. The kids will have fun helping with this one and they won’t last long.
Your kids are going to burn a lot of energy when your camping. You’ll be surprised at how fast and far those little legs can go. You can fuel their energy sources with these fun snacks and also relax, knowing they are getting the nutrition they need to keep playing.
We look forward to seeing you around the campfire next summer. Be sure to check out our member RVparks and campgrounds to make your reservations.
